Effective Date: 24 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MemoryShield ("MemoryShield," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the MemoryShield website, application, and related services at memoryshield.life (the "Services").
MemoryShield operates an encrypted digital-legacy vault with named trustees, an automated email life-check, and a multi-step verification process before designated vault items may be released. We are not a will service, fiduciary, executor, or a legal or medical death certifier.
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
We use information to:
Data in transit is protected with TLS. Data at rest is protected with AES-256 on our hosting infrastructure (Google Cloud). Extra encryption on individual vault items is optional.
MemoryShield holds master encryption keys (key escrow) so automated trustee release can work after verification. This is not a zero-knowledge architecture and is not default client-side end-to-end encryption where only you hold the keys.
Authorized operators may access vault contents when the release protocol requires it (including to complete release to verified trustees). If you lose account access, recovery options depend on the authentication methods you configured; we cannot honestly promise that vault contents are recoverable in every failure mode.
Life-check check-ins are sent by email. We do not claim SMS or mobile-app life-check as a live channel in this Policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only:
The Services are operated with infrastructure that may process data in the United States and other locations where we or our providers operate. If you access the Services from another country, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations with safeguards appropriate to the provider and applicable law.
We retain account and vault data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, complete an in-progress verification or release workflow, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion as described in Section 9, subject to those needs.
The subsections below describe how long we keep vault content after release completes, and what happens when we wipe vault content. Release is not deletion. Completing release gives named trustees access to designated vault items; it does not by itself delete the vault.
While your account is active and no release has completed for that vault, we retain account and vault data as needed to operate the Services. Canceling a subscription or plan does not, by itself, wipe vault content. Closing an account or requesting deletion is handled as described in Section 9 and may still be limited by an in-progress verification or release workflow, disputes, or legal obligations.
After release completes for a vault, named trustees may access the vault items designated for them. Vault content remains stored until a wipe under this Section 8, subject to any legal hold (see Section 8.5).
Claim. A trustee “claims” only by pressing an explicit in-product control labeled I’ve saved what I need. Downloading items alone, or silent inactivity, is not a claim.
Claim grace (90 days). After release, trustees have 90 days to claim. We send reminder notices on day 7, day 30, and day 60 after release (skipped if that trustee has already claimed).
Every named trustee has claimed and/or early-removed. When every named trustee has claimed and/or early-removed for that released vault, we start a 30-day notice period. After that notice period ends, we remove the vault content from MemoryShield (the whole vault for that release path), unless a legal hold pauses the timer (Section 8.5) or applicable law requires otherwise. Once every named trustee has claimed and/or early-removed, we start the 30-day notice and then remove the vault content; we do not wait for the 365-day unclaimed path.
Unclaimed after 365 days. If the vault is still not fully claimed under the rules above, then 365 days after release we may remove the vault content. We send a final notice starting 30 days before that wipe (on day 335 after release, unless a legal hold has paused the clocks).
Early remove. After a trustee has saved what they need, they may request early remove (self-serve in the product where available). Early remove ends that trustee’s access. If early remove (together with any prior claims or early-removes) means every named trustee has claimed and/or early-removed, we start the same 30-day notice → whole-vault wipe as above — we do not wait until day 365. If any named trustee has not yet claimed or early-removed, the vault remains under the claim-grace and unclaimed schedules in this section.
Distinctions. Release is not wipe. Canceling verification or a release flow while the account owner can still cancel is not wipe. MemoryShield is not a will, fiduciary, estate executor, or a legal or medical death certifier.
When we wipe vault content under Section 8.2:
accountClosures) — a minimal record that the account closed, not vault contents.Wipe under this section is separate from an owner-initiated cancel of verification or release before release completes.
After a wipe under Section 8.3, we do not keep vault contents. We may keep:
accountClosures audit/closure record described above; We do not restore wiped vault contents.
If we are subject to a legal hold, court order, or similar legal obligation, we may pause the claim-grace, post-claim notice, unclaimed, and wipe timers in this Section 8 until the hold is lifted or the obligation no longer requires pause. We do not invent other pause reasons in this Policy.

We will respond as required by applicable law. Some requests may be limited where we must retain data for security, legal, or ongoing release-protocol reasons.
Post-release and trustee path. After release completes, retention and wipe of vault content follow Section 8 (including claim grace, all-claimed notice, unclaimed schedule, early remove, and legal hold). Trustees with questions about post-release access, claim, early remove, or scheduled removal may contact privacy@memoryshield.life. Owner-initiated deletion requests may be limited while a release protocol is in progress or after release while Section 8 clocks apply.
